Refrigerated containers for rent in Montreal
Chilled and frozen container storage to rent or buy – right across the island, the South Shore and Quebec.
Cold storage container rental in Montreal
Montreal handles a lot of temperature-controlled freight. As long ago as 2021, the Port of Montreal had as many as 800 refrigerated containers sitting on shore on any given day, and its reefer traffic has been growing.
Behind that port traffic sits everyone else: grocery distributors, meat and seafood processors, bakeries, breweries, produce importers, hospitals, research labs and the pharmaceutical companies clustered around the island.
Most of them will hit a point where the cold space they’ve got isn’t the cold space they need, whether that’s a compressor failing in July or a contract that arrives with more volume than the freezer can take.
That’s the gap we fill. Refrigerated container rental in Montreal runs by the month or by the year, with units delivered to your yard, store or plant and set down wherever suits you. We’ll take your containers away again when you’re finished.
Our Montreal yard is at 10,000 boulevard Maurice-Duplessis in Rivière-des-Prairies, around 10 miles north of downtown. From there, our drivers reach Laval, Repentigny, Longueuil, Anjou and Saint-Léonard without any hassle, and the surrounding areas are usually well within our reach.
TITAN is one of the most established names in temperature-controlled storage, with a presence in more than 40 destinations across Canada and the US.

Pick a temperature, then pick a size
For most people who need a reefer container rental in Montreal, the answer is an ArcticStore. It’s our signature refrigerated container that comes in 10ft, 20ft and 40ft, and it will hold anything from +45°C down to -40°C. That means flexibility to store chilled produce one month, frozen stock the next – it’s the same unit either way. If you’re weighing up a 20ft against a 40ft, the honest advice is to count your pallets first – and then call us.
Three other models exist for the jobs an ArcticStore isn’t quite right for:
- ArcticBlast – a powerful blast freezer in 20ft and 40ft, ideal for pulling the heat out of a fresh batch fast rather than holding something that’s already cold.
- Arctic UltraFreezer – 20ft and 40ft, down to -75°C, for vaccines, clinical samples and biological material.
- HotStore – the opposite job, up to +85°C, in 20ft and 40ft. Use for chemicals, curing, drying and anything that has to stay warm.
There’s also the ArcticStore Horizon, a 40ft unit built around low-energy running and supplied with solar panels, which uses 55% less power – on average – than a standard cooler.
Winter is not a free refrigerator
Here’s something we get asked about every autumn. A refrigerated container doesn’t only chill. It holds a set point. That distinction matters more in Montreal than almost anywhere else we operate, because from December to March the problem often isn’t keeping product cold enough; it’s stopping it from freezing.
Produce, dairy, beverages, certain pharmaceuticals and a lot of coatings and adhesives are ruined by an unplanned trip below zero just as surely as they’re ruined by heat.
An ArcticStore will warm as readily as it cools, so a chiller or freezer container in Montreal holding +2°C in a -25°C yard stays at +2°C. If you need to go further than that, a HotStore takes it all the way up to +85°C. Either way, it’s the container that is doing the thinking, not the weather.

Your container delivery – what we need to know
Our drivers bring the unit out and position it, so there’s no crane to book and nothing for you to organize on the day beyond access. What we do need is a good idea of the site before we set off.
Consider if you have:
- Firm, reasonably level ground – and pause to think about what it’ll be like after a thaw
- Enough room for a truck to enter, turn and back up (you don’t want your freezer container rental to fail before you’re even up and running!)
- Cables, branches or canopies in the way overhead
- Clear space at the door end, so you can actually load up
- A suitable power supply, which our team will confirm with you beforehand
Snow is its own conversation. If the pad is going to be cleared in January, tell us where the snow is being pushed, because a six-foot bank in the wrong place will block the doors you need. Our delivery guide covers the rest.
Once you’re up and running, SmartArctic remote monitoring comes with most units. It lets you check temperatures, adjust a set point, start a defrost or download the logs from wherever you happen to be.
How long you keep it is up to you
Most Montreal customers rent, and rentals can run from a few weeks to several years. It keeps the cost off the balance sheet, it avoids the disruption of building a permanent cold room, and the unit goes back when you no longer need it. There’s a contract, and it’s a flexible one, so you don’t have to commit for a decade.
If one container turns out not to be enough, we can join 20ft and 40ft units into an Arctic SuperStore, which is a single open-plan cold room built to fit your yard and zoned for different temperatures where you want them. And if buying makes more sense for you than renting, we sell refrigerated containers in Montreal too.
